An Intensive 3-Day Course in Personal Safety for Civilians Assigned to a Post-War Country

This course provides comprehensive training in all of the areas necessary for safety and security training in the post-war environments of the Middle East.

You will learn:

  • Cultural Sensitivity Country-specific overview of cultural norms (what is considered acceptable or unacceptable behavior by the indigenous population in that country), including dress, differential behavior toward men, women, children, and the elderly among diverse ethnic and religious groups, language and communication issues, food and drink, social protocols, etc.
  • Personal Security Training in daily practices and what to look for to maintain personal safety. This will include how to behave in public places, and security practices regarding travel to and around the country, hotels, public transportation, restaurants and bars, barbers and other personal care facilities, and public markets, theaters, etc. How to deal with medical emergencies, hospitals, communication with home (telephones, e-mail, snail mail, etc.). Assessing the environment and recognizing potential hostility and threat.
  • Defensive Driving and Assault Response These two half-day courses in personal protection will teach:
    • Morning: Awareness training and defensive driving skills; and
    • Afternoon: This hands-on course will cover basic assault response training: awareness and appropriate responses to hostile approaches that include kidnapping and assassination.

Industry/Country-SpecificTraining (1-day courses)

These courses provides industry-specific training in those areas of high priority, and are recommended in addition to the comprehensive 3-day course. The areas included in these 1-day courses are:

  • Security training for Convoy Drivers: Identifying and avoiding IEDs and suicide terrorists, strategic protocols for hostile situations, creative strategies for protecting your convoy, defensive driving for large vehicles, issues of terrain, weather, indigenous populations and population centers, etc.
  • Personal Security for Contractors: In-country travel, low-profile strategies for staying safe, on the job vulnerabilities and strategies for maintaining security at the worksite, how to identify a hostile situation before it becomes lethal, etc.
  • Training and Maintaining the Safety of Your Personnel: This course for those who will have supervisory responsibilities for other US civilians and nationals will cover the various issues relating to the safety and security of subordinates. The course will incorporate leadership and accountability training, protocols for dealing with nationals, etc.
  • Personal Security for Contractors: In-country travel, low-profile strategies for staying safe, on the job vulnerabilities and strategies for maintaining security at the worksite, how to identify a hostile situation before it becomes lethal, etc.

Manpower Requirements: These courses will require one instructor per course. All instructors will have extensive background in their respective fields and with the country of deployment.
